I believe it is the birthright of everyone of us who breathes to be able to experience normal diaphragm function, and a free and uninhibited ability to breathe.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Arrive a few minutes early to fill out your intake form, or download your Initial Appointment form here to fill it out ahead of time.
Entry is through the wooden gate in the corrugated iron fence about 20m uphill from the main stairs. This brings you into the “top yard” and to the verandah, which is the “waiting room”.
Wear or bring clothes that are comfortable for you to move in, preferably clothes that allow access to your abdomen and lower back. Bring orthotics if you usually wear them.
Bring with you relevant imaging & reports. Feel free to scan and email anything you would like me to see ahead of the appointment.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
A doctor’s referral is necessary for Workcover or motor vehicle insurance claims, or to claim Medicare Extended Primary Care (EPC) rebates.
Otherwise, you do not need a referral.
CAN I CLAIM THROUGH MY HEALTH FUND OR THROUGH MEDICARE?
If you have a health fund with Physiotherapy extras cover, you can claim a rebate. The amount depends on your particular policy — check with your health fund for details.
If you are eligible for Medicare Extended Primary Care (EPC) referral, then you can claim a rebate on up to five appointments per year. Speak to your GP for more information.
WHAT ARE YOUR COVID-19 PROTOCOLS?
- I allow extra time throughout the day for cleaning touchpoints
- Hand sanitiser and handwashing options available
- The clinic space is well ventilated
- I check health and travel status before each appointment, and either reschedule or switch to telehealth where applicable
- Single use masks are available
If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
DO YOU OFFER TELE-HEALTH?
I offer Telehealth for when it is not an option to visit the clinic in person. It is worth a conversation to see if it is right for you.
We will use the health video conferencing platform called Coviu as a first preference, and Zoom as a second preference. You’ll need Google Chrome for Coviu, or the Zoom App for Zoom. Have your phone handy as an audio back up or in case we need to problem solve.
You can use your laptop, tablet or smartphone. A Laptop or tablet is better where there is a choice, but the phone works well enough. We can make a time to ‘test drive’ the tech ahead of your appointment if you wish.
Telehealth can be used for me to walk you through ways to help yourself:
- exercises for strength, flexibility or pain relief
- targeted mindfulness/meditation w awareness to the area/s that I would have targeted in hands on treatment
- home based work ergonomics assessments
